CHOICE Election Monitor: Analyzing the China Issue Across Europe’s Upcoming Elections

Budapest Parliament Hungarian Parliament Building Hungary People Politicians

As campaigns hurtle toward a conclusion in Czechia and Germany, Hungarian and French elections are just kicking off in earnest. In many of these upcoming elections, European and national policies towards Beijing, as well as economic relations with China more broadly, could become prominent political talking points.

In order to assess the China issue and its contribution to the political calculus of campaigners across the European continent, CHOICE’s latest series entitled the CHOICE Election Monitor will dissect the discourse in the context of these many campaigns.

Whether it be in the races for the French Presidency, parliamentary elections in Germany, Hungary, Czechia, and Latvia, or general elections in Bosnia and Serbia— the CHOICE Election Monitor will have an evaluation of the increasing role China could play in each campaign.

The first article in the series, an analysis on key China-linked issues in Czechia and Hungary, is available here.
